What are Boxed Water's sources of water?

We use municipal water so that we can fill closer to the consumer. West of the Mississippi River, our water is sourced from water that flows through the Wasatch National Forest. Product that you receive east of the Mississippi River is sourced from Lake Michigan.

What is Boxed Water's purification process?

Boxed Water uses an 8-step water purification process which includes reverse osmosis, carbon filtration, and mineral removal for purity, giving Boxed Water its clean, crisp taste. For product safety, we use a UV light and ozonation process. Boxed Water is free of chromium, arsenic, MTBE, chlorine, fluoride, and trace pharmaceuticals.

Are Boxed Water cartons recyclable? How can I recycle my cartons?

Boxed Water's cartons are made with 100% recyclable materials. Our boxes can be recycled through curbside recycling programs, at drop-off recycling centers, or through mail-in recycling programs. Please visit recyclecartons.com to learn more about box recycling in your area and how you can be part of the carton recycling movement.

What is Boxed Water's packaging made of?

Boxed Water's packaging consists of 92% plant-based content, the highest in the industry. 66% paper, 26% Plant-based plastic, 5% Aluminum (for flavor barrier), 3% plastic film (flavor and safety barrier). Our paper comes from well-managed forests and FSC certified paper. Our plant-based cap is from pine trees (not sugar cane) made from waste from paper production.

What is Boxed Water's pH level?

Boxed Water has a pH level of 6.4. We are a pH neutral water, which we feel offers the best hydration for your body.

Why is there aluminum inside the carton?

The aluminum in our cartons serves as a barrier to light and oxygen, protecting the flavor and allowing the contents to last for months without preservatives or refrigeration. The polyethylene acts as a water-tight barrier and helps the box keep its shape.

What is BPA? And are you BPA free?

BPA (Bisphenol A) is a persistent toxin (PT) found in many rigid plastics, including many PET water bottles. PT's assault all life on Earth and things like overexposure to sunlight and plastic bottle corrosion can cause BPA to leach into drinking water. Boxed Water is 100% BPA free.

Can you refill and reuse our box?

Yes! This carton can be refilled and reused using clean drinking water. Make sure to clean it frequently. Keep an eye out for wear and tear, this box will break down over time. Do not clean with steel wool, stiff brush or anything abrasive as these may damage the carton's inner lining. Hand wash only. Typically, you can reuse your box by refilling twice a day for 30 days.

What is the cap made up of?

Our cap is plant-based and comes from trees. Sugarcane is better than petroleum, but pine trees are better than sugarcane for the planet. We are always committed to finding the best solution. Our caps are installed with a safety “crack” feature. When you open the container, you should hear a slight crack as the seal is broken.

What ingredients do you use to make your fruit flavors?

Boxed Water is made with all natural flavors; no sugars, artificial additives, or preservatives. All of our flavors are derived from fruit essences. In the case of citrus flavors, those come from natural oils.

Can I order custom Boxed Water packaging?

Due to operational complexities, we aren't able to take orders for custom Boxed Water packaging. But we'd love to have you test our current packaging to see if it works as is! Many of our friends have found the distinctive shape of our packaging and its graphics make a cool impression all on their own. If you still want to customize the packaging of Boxed Water, many of our customers have found stickers to be a good solution.

Did you know tap water is better for the planet when compared to packaged water?

Yes, we promote the use of reusable water bottles, but we also recognize that there are times when they aren't an ideal solution. We create a product that helps meet the demands of a growing market (portable water) that lessens the environmental impact and gives back to society, which simply makes us a 'better' choice -- a step in the right direction. We are not satisfied with the status quo. R&D is the core of everything we do and we're committed to constantly exploring new technology to help us further lessen the environmental impact of the portable water market.

What is Boxed Water's shelf life?

The shelf life of our product is two years from the production date marked on the box. We recommend drinking and replacing at the best by date to ensure a pure and fresh taste. For any of our fruit flavored water, they are best consumed within 6 months of the production date. Always make sure to check your package for the exact expiration date!

What are your shipping options? Does Boxed Water offer free shipping?

We have free standard ground shipping (2-5 business days) in the lower 48 states delivered to your doorstep. For larger orders (typically 20+ cases) we may ship freight rather than ground. Freight would be a 3-week lead time for delivery.

Do you offer expedited shipping?

At this time, we do NOT offer expedited shipping as an option. If you need your order by a certain date, please reach out to us at hello@boxedwaterisbetter.com and we will do our best to accommodate. We love to help make things happen!

Do you ship to Canada?

Yes! We do ship to Canada - As a small company, we are working on providing a more reasonable shipping cost to our Canadian customers but right now we are able to ship out product with a $50 shipment fee. If you require assistance with placing the order please reach out to use by email or chat.

I received a damaged product. What can I do?

We're very sorry to hear that. This is not typical of our product and it's important to us to help you have the best possible experience with Boxed Water. If you receive a damaged product, please email us at hello@boxedwaterisbetter.com with photos and answers to the following questions:

  • How many boxes inside the package were damaged or leaking?
  • Does it look like the expterior of the box was damaged during shipping?
  • Were any of the seals on the boxes compromised inside?

Any other details you can provide will be helpful as well.

What is your return policy?

Returns are accepted in accordance with our Refund policy. Please reach out to us at hello@boxedwaterisbetter.com with any questions or concerns. We're happy to help!

Does Boxed Water offer a subscription service?

Yes! With a Boxed Water subscription (a recurring order), you will receive 10% off your product. Please shop by product and you'll see an option to subscribe by your choice of frequency.

How do I update my account or change my subscription preferences?

In order to make changes to your Boxed Water subscription, such as edit your delivery schedule or change your shipping address or billing information, you'll need to have a login account with us on boxedwaterisbetter.com. Select the small blue link at the bottom of the page that says "Create an account." Make sure to use the same email that you used to setup your subscription with when entering your information. Once your login process is complete you should be able to visit your account information and manage your account and subscription from there.

How do I cancel a subscription for Boxed Water?

We're sorry to hear you'd like to cancel your Boxed Water subscription. You can either login to your Boxed Water account or email us at hello@boxedwaterisbetter.com

Please note that if you have recently received an order confirmation notification for your subscription this months that is prompting you to cancel your subscription, your order will still be processed and shipped. We can only cancel orders that have not been placed yet.

How can I pause my subscription?

Once you sign into your account here (https://boxedwaterisbetter.com/account) you can click on Manage Subscription. Once you locate Subscription Status there is an option to click on Pause Subscription. When you are ready to reactivate your account you can follow the same steps. Please reach out to us at hello@boxedwaterisbetter.com for any assistance needed.

Does it cost anything to have a subscription with Boxed Water?
No, there is no subscription fee and you can cancel at any time.
Do you have international shipping?

We're sorry to say that at this time, we're not able to offer shipping outside the USA and Canada. Right now, we don't have a good solution to provide water internationally in a way that fits with our mission of sustainability.

We would love to see your continued support for Boxed Water through our social media channels. This will be the best way to find out if our international shipping/distribution plans change in the future.

Does Boxed Water do event sponsorships or donate to events?

Yes! We would love to hear more about your event. Please fill out our event sponsorship form. Keep in mind that we will need to receive your request at least 30 days prior to an event to be able to evaluate your request.

Is Boxed Water available wholesale?

Yes! Boxed Water's wholesale program is meant for businesses who would like to sell our product and buy directly from us at a discounted price. As a wholesale member, we will send you a login/signup request to access our online wholesale store. Within the store, your discounting will be automatically applied upon checkout. To fill out an application, visit our Wholesale page and allow 24 hours for a response from our customer service team (M-F 8:00 AM-5:00 PM EST)

We also offer a subscription option for wholesalers that allows you to setup auto shipments of products. You'll receive a login that enables you to access all of your account, billing, and product information. You'll also be able to adjust the frequency of your shipments and skip one-time shipments if you have too much inventory. And you can cancel anytime!

Do you charge sales tax?

We currently charge sales tax on our water in New York, Utah and Illinois as it is required by the law. If you have a sales tax exempt form or resale certificate - please reach out to us at hello@boxedwaterisbetter.com

When did Boxed Water start?
In 2009, our founder and co-founders had the simple idea for a new type of packaged water. The mission was to fulfill the convenience of packaged water that many people have become accustomed to consuming in a more environmentally-friendly way. Since then, our company has continued to innovate our product to be the most sustainable package in the water aisle.
What do you do beyond your Boxed Water product to help the planet?
In 2014, Boxed Water Is Better became a member of 1% For the Planet, pledging to give 1% of our sales revenue to environmentally-minded organizations. We are proud to be a dedicated partner with the National Forest Foundation and have planted over 1.2 Million trees to date. All members can redeem points for products and discounts, plus earn access to exclusive perks like early access to new products, double points on purchases (Better Reward Days), and birthday rewards. Want to make sustainability even more rewarding? When you become a subscriber you’ll unlock additional points for your sustainable commitment.
How do I join the Better Rewards Club?
It’s free to join! Simply create an account on boxedwaterisbetter.com and you’ll automatically be enrolled and earn 50 points. Check out all the perks you can unlock with each sustainable purchase.
How do I redeem my points?
A member must be logged into their account to redeem points. Points can redeemed during the checkout process. Once you get to the checkout screen you will see your total available Rewards points. To use your rewards, select your redemption amount using the dropdown menu, then continue with the checkout process. Remember you must have a minimum balance of at least 100 points each time you would like to make a redemption.
I already have an account. Do I need to create a new one to earn rewards?
We took care of that for you! All customers with an active account are automatically enrolled in our rewards program. If you have had more than one customer account with us, please note that only one rewards account was created per person.
Do my points expire?
Yes, points expire after 12 months of account inactivity. To remain active, you must earn or redeem points.
Do Better Rewards Club tiers expire or reset?
Once you are in the Elite, Platinum, or Premier tier, you will be in that tier for one year starting when you reach your new status. Continue to earn points when you shop and unlock exclusive perks!
Can I earn points on past purchases?
No, you will start earning points on the day you sign up to join Better Rewards Club.
When will I receive my birthday points?
Happy Birthday! We’re delighted that you have chosen to celebrate with us through our exclusive rewards program. To receive your birthday bonus on your birthday, enter your birthday in the account settings or during your initial account creation, at least 30 days before your birthday.
When do I see my point adjustments?
Points will automatically be adjusted in your account upon redemption and earning unless fraudulent activity is suspected.
How do I know what tier I am?
Once logged in, you can check your tier on your Account page.
How do I get to the next level of the Better Rewards Club?
Your VIP tier is based on your annual spending. The initial level, Elite, is complimentary. To reach Platinum, a minimum spend of $350 is required, while for Premier, it's $750. Upon qualification, you will promptly move up and gain access to the exclusive benefits of that tier.
Can I get loyalty points for referrals?
Yes, you can refer a friend and earn 200 points for each successful referral. Your friend will also get a 20% discount on their first purchase over $40.
